It's A Boy!!! He Needs A Name!!! Photos Added

ETA-There will be a random draw goodie for participating!

A new big furry boy! I will pick up the newest edition to my zoo tomorrow afternoon. "Oreo" had been waiting for adoption for over 2 months and is a border collie mix. I have no idea what the mix is yet and will have to see what my vet says. He is a pretty big boy already so I am thinking maybe some lab.

Anyways, he is about a year old, already neutered and potty trained. He and my Marley met today for the first time and seemed to get along okay. "Oreo" likes to chew. Clancy liked to chew too because he was bored and lonely and he ate my sofa way back when (I needed a new one anyways) , so hopefully my sofa will stay intact this time and "Oreo" and Marley will bond quickly. I will try and post a photo when I bring him home tomorrow.

So "Oreo" needs a better name. Let's have a contest with suggestions for him. He is at least 70 pounds I think(ETA-he is only 56 pounds but man, when he jumps on you-well I wish I could photograph the huge bruise on my upper arm from him-he was a very good boy today at the vet tho), so no Tinkerbell stuff. He is dark greys and blueish black with spots-mottled spots. Very lively and full of fun. Leave your suggestions here and I will see if any fit. I just can't live with "Oreo". What is wrong with people and the names they give anyways? Somehow a Great Dane named Snookums is so wrong too! I like people names for animals, so think along that line. I have one name in mind but want to see what others think too.

Love the name .... If he's a border collie mix ... get ready for "action" & fun!

  2. I like the name OREO, but if you don't and he is a border collie, how about Lassie, know that is not so original, but it is a good name.

  3. Ok, what a cutie. AND yes you will have your hands full as border collies are not only smart but need that action to "round up things". Well, since you have MARLEY... Maybe you need a Bongo to go with him. or Boco BOrder COllie but i like Bongo. : )
He sure has the spots alright.

  4. Oh, my goodness! When I saw him I definitely thought Oreo. He looks like the black and white cookie for sure!! I guess you don't like it though . . . hmm, LOL, maybe Double Stuff?!

My neighbors have border collies, and the best advice I can give you is walk him and play catch a lot to give him plenty of exercise. :) Best of luck to you.

  14. How about Spike, or Rocky or maybe even plain Bob or Fred. I find it hard to give an animal a name without meeting him. I don't think I have been much of a help. Sorry. We have a lab and her name is Lilly. If your dog is a lab mix then he will be such a good natured. Good luck with him.

BTW I like Oreo too. How about Pepper or Piper.

His mom sent this for him
Well, Toby suggested "Bingo" since he's a dog. I've already over-
ruled that for you. Then he said, "Baldwin, because he happy." I
have no idea why Baldwin=happy, but it's cute!

Can't wait to meet The Dog Formerly Known as Oreo.

  25. What a cute dog! I love the coloring. What about the name Bruiser (since he does bruise you lol) or Brutus. (My brothers dog is named Bruiser) Both of those are nice 'manly' dog names. He could also be a Zeus or Harley. There are so many cute names that picking dog names is almost as hard as picking kids name. I have a husky/border collie mix and she is so loveable, protective & jealous of anyone who comes near me. She's definately a 'mama' baby.

  26. I'd say Jake or Oscar. Cute "little" guy! Have fun!!! My puppy is 7 months...work!!!

  30. my daughter and grand daughter sent this one via email---

Chelsea said Remy and I said Meeko. He's so cute! He looks so happy. He will have a good life with you. What other animals do you have? We have Max, Sydney, and Laci (dogs). Flour the white hamster and Tyrone the amazon parrot. Our sugar glider died last month he was 4. We also had a Chinchilla named Squishy who died last year. We had him 5 years but he was 12 when he died. Let us know what name you pick. Love, Me
