Never Say Never-I Have Blog Candy.

Scroll down for any new blog entries. This will stay at the top until the blog candy is awarded.

ETA--- Here is a capture from Art Impressions site of the stamp set. These are normally about $22 a set. It was gloomy and wet outside today, so I didn't get a photo. Curious I am.....

ETA-this is an idea of what the stamped image will look like when you use the above stamp set. I don't understand why so few are interested in this blog candy. Kinda sad, ya think?

I said I would never do this again, but something came up and someone was very nice to me, so I am paying it forward. Earlier this month I ordered a set of cling mounted stamps from Art Impressions. I have other stamps from them in the watercolor style and it's lots of fun to create this way. When I saw the listing for new styles, I was elated. Now the stamps are done on cling foam, which I like even better. PLUS-it was FREE shipping month! Triple score! I ordered a set and forgot about them. Then an envie showed up. Happy mail!!

I opened it and grinned, then frowned. I had two of the same set. I contacted the people at Art Impressions and they said "My bad". We will send out the one you are missing and you can keep the extra copy for yourself or give to a friend. I knew immediately I would share with my fellow bloggers. Even with my misgivings about blog candy, I hope to send some new business to Art Impressions . There are How To's, and a gallery on the site. You can also pick up a video DVD of ideas and watercolor basics using stamps.

Now I am not gonna make this easy for you. To enter this contest, you must include a link to the one rubber stamp (an online image or card you or someone else has made-you don't have to make anything special just for this contest-I just like to see what others like) you would own if you could only own one stamp ever (one stamp -Not a set) and guess what, it can't be Stampin' Up because there is more to the stamp world than SU!). I want to see some images I might LUST after! ETA-must have pissed off the masses by saying NO SU. Oh well, your loss.

The blog candy will run thru August 2nd. That is the day the local stamp convention ends and guess what I have a ticket for? One entry per person please and along with the stamp set-I am including some beautiful May Art ribbon, a set or two of blank cards for you to stamp on and maybe baby, a few other goodies. I will post a photo when the sun actually comes out.

Pass this on, the more the merrier. All are invited to join in the fun, so don't despair if you are outside the realm. Feel free to join in.

Chair With Hat

I messed this one up but I still like the idea. I may take it apart and fix later. The part I don't like is the lower right fold. I could not find my bone folder so I used a spoon. Yeah, stupid.

I used VersaMark for the swirlies on the base card. I then brushed them with chalk. Not a great card but I love the chair stamped and colored with Prismacolors. Don't forget to enter the contest above which has turned out to be a bust. But the less entries, the better your random chance of winning. Have a summery Sunday. I hope I can have one, too.

Butterfly Wishes

Make Sure you visit the above listing for blog candy. I guarantee you will love it if you win.

This is a quickie. Nothing special. I used a charm I found in the clearance aisle at Michael's. It may have been for jewelry making. Below is a closeup on the charm.

Have a great week and if you are too hot, send some of the heat to Michigan. I am friggin' freezing.

Better Than Hallmark-And These Would Sell (rated PG13)

Need a phrase for a hard to express card? Look no further.

So your daughter's a hooker, and it spoiled your day...
Look at the bright side, she's a really good lay.

My tire was thumping...I thought it was flat...
When I looked at the tire...I noticed your cat...Sorry.

You had your bladder removed and you're on the mends
here's a bouquet of flowers and a box of Depends.

Happy Vasectomy! Hope you feel zippy!
'Cause when I had mine I got real snippy.

Heard your wife left you...
How upset you must be...
But don't fret about it...
She moved in with me...

Your computer is dead...
it was once so great
Aren't you pissed
you installed Windows '98?

You totaled your car...
and can't remember why...
could it have been...
that case of Bud Dry?

INSIDE: That you're not here to ruin it for me.

OUTSIDE: If I get only one thing for Christmas...
INSIDE: I hope it's your sister.

OUTSIDE: I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love.
INSIDE: After having met you, I've changed my mind.

OUTSIDE: Sex with you is like using drugs:
INSIDE: Lots of people do it, but nobody's stupid enough to admit it.

OUTSIDE: When we were together, you always said you'd die for me.
INSIDE: Now that we've broken up, I think it's time you kept your promise.

OUTSIDE: I'm so miserable without you...
INSIDE: It's almost like you're here.

OUTSIDE: If you ever need a friend...
INSIDE: Buy a dog.

OUTSIDE: Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.
INSIDE: Did you ever find out who the father was?

A Birdie Told Me

A birdie told me that I should go to bed so maybe I can hit up the Ann Arbor Street Fairs on Thursday. I wanted to finish some cards and one was pretty much driving me nuts. Then I was being dive bombed by skeeters. I somehow have found new uses for the F Bomb. Fraggity frag fraggle. Now the so so mood has advanced into a "kill or be killed" lust. Anything that snores may also get stabbed tonight.

Another in the long line of 10 minutes or less cards, this one is a tad bland. My paper flowers should have been a bit larger. But if I had used larger flowers, I could not have used those tiny little screws for the centers. Aren't those the neatest ? Try and attach those blind folded! This stamp image is by Inkadinkado and the set is called Birds Galore . I have a card with the owl, too. Owls are showing up everywhere this summer and fall, so watch for stamps, scrapbook embellies and fabric. Glad that I saw that trend before everything got hot. Word to the wise-I think robots are gonna be the "it" item in the spring.

Cat 2

This is a variation on THIS card. I used the same colors, same stamp and same ribbon but played a little more. I like them both but there is something about this one I think I like more. I love to sit in bed on a heating pad with cats on my feet and color. I certainly will be doing the same tomorrow night as it's scheduled to get into the low to mid 40's here in mid Michigan. I am still waiting for summer.

I used a punch that simulates the edge of a stamp on the edge above. Everything is pop dotted as I have to do layers. I rarely make a card without several of them.

A closeup on the ribbon bow and for certain, there is no mailing this card without protective padding. And tons of postage. The best kind of mail is hand delivered, right? Along with some cookies or brownies.

By The Bay

I did this card forever ago. It's been in my queue for a while and I think I forgot why I didn't publish it. At least until now. I was hoping to find a small ribbon slide to replace the one I made from metallic paper. Somewhere in my stash is a jar of them but honestly, I am so disorganized. I will find them after I die.

This was stamped on water color paper and colored using Prismacolors and Gamsol. I swiped the base card using Tim Holtz Distress Inks to give it a "by the sea" look. That is NOT Magic Mesh, btw. It is drywall tape. I have a huge roll of it. Honestly it doesn't stick well to textured card stock. Maybe if you hide it, add a tad of glue or tape in odd places. It does work well on matte or smooth paper, tho.

Summer is going so fast yet it really hasn't warmed up much here in Michigan. I keep hoping. Enjoy wherever you are. It could be worse.

Copic Blog Candy Giveaway!

It doesn't get any better than this!! Drool Drool Drool!!

American Bear

I hate fireworks. They smell and my dogs and cats are in terrors from the noise. My friend Mike C. said he doesn't understand how people can afford to burn and blow up as much as they did last night. 99% of it is illegal in Michigan, too. Why didn't they just light a match to lots of Benjamin's and really see what was wasted. Guess they skip the mortgage next month instead.

So I am a poopy sport but I like quiet and fresh air. And those bottle rocket leftovers on my roof are NOT a good thing. At least they aren't pulling out the rifles in my town. Save that insanity for New Year's Eve.

This card is another one that is easy to figure out. I still used the runny ink pad from Joann's, too. Not like I could actually learn a lesson the first time, ya know.

Here is a close up on the bear image. I honestly have no idea who made the stamp as this was stamped months ago. Using Prismacolors because my blender went dry on my Copics and I was too lazy to get up to refill it.

The card I made the other day will be resubmitted. I found a charm for it but need to take a photo tomorrow. The tube called today, with Tiger, Roger, Tigers and ESPN keeping me company on my heating pad. This is also a sad night. I am saying goodbye to my favorite Detroit Piston. Rasheed Wallace always made basketball fun, even if he was pissing me off. My heart will never bleed green, tho. The Celtics are the enemy. Be happy Sheed. This homey is still red, white and blue. I guaran-sheed it.

Picnic Surprises.

ETA-I fixed the not so great card and made it a so so card. The ideas I had to make it better actually turned into another card for later. The second card near the bottom is the fix. Better? LMK.

I have never liked picnics much. Mostly for dietary reasons. Being a vegetarian, 9o% of anything anyone brings, I simply can't/don't eat. Whenever sofa boy needs a dish to pass for scouts (or formally, for work) , I get elected (unrepresented, tho) to make something. I think I scare people with what I make. Brownies with no sugar or flour or chocolate (black beans, agave and brown rice sub out), salads with veggies people get freaked out by (apparently if it's not a white potato and covered in heavy white stuff or it's not fried, no one knows what it is). Ever eaten purple fleshed taters ? I have. Purple cauliflower ? Very tasty. Whenever I can get to a Whole Foods Market , I am so so happy. There is such an usual mix of veggies to poke thru that many don't ever get to see in run of the mill grocery store. Have you tried a jicama? Eaten raw, you will love the crunch on a salad. Eaten cooked, it is reminiscent of a potato crossed with an apple.

Here be my Independence Day card that sucks. I ordered some charms from Oriental Trading. They took forever to come. Then they were not as pictured in either the catalog or Internet site. So where that dumb bow is, that was supposed to be my pewter charm saying 4th of July. Close your eyes and pretend, okay? Another thing-don't buy those cheapie ink pads in the check out aisle at Joann's. I think they were Studio G. They are not water proof, so when I ran the Stickles glue over each firework, as it dried, lookie what happened. Thankfully, I did the stars with a Spica pen and the coloring with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

I will replace that bow when I find something better-got any ideas?

So is this better than before? I layered under the layers with same blue base, then added a charm with brads. I did want some ribbon so cut a small bit and tied a knot. Snot dotted.

Hopefully, the sun will shine for you this weekend. I need some sun and heat and sun, and did I say sun already? I may venture out to the Detroit area for the CityFest (formally known as the TasteFest). There is usually a big name national music artist or two but Todd Rundgren???? Where is Weird Al when you need him!!
